London South Bank University (LSBU) used CPC’s DfE recommended Employee Screening Services framework to improve compliance within their recruitment and vetting functions.

Quick and easy tender process

As a member of CPC, LSBU contacted us for support.  We were able to advise them of our market-leading framework agreement for Employee Screening Services providing CPC members access to a comprehensive solution designed to cover all background screening service requirements.  The framework is recommended by the Department for Education (DfE) and provides access to services at excellent rates without the need to complete a resource-heavy tender process.

Access to fully vetted suppliers

Using the framework enabled the University to access four fully vetted suppliers offering national availability and provision. Satisfied that all desired benefits would be achieved, LSBU awarded the contract to Verifile who provide a UK-based service offering that enables the background screening of students or staff from every corner of the globe.

Cost effective solution

Getting a great commercial deal was a key consideration for LSBU. Using the framework gave the University access to services at excellent rates. The University have now achieved cost savings both commercially and practically in terms of the team’s resources and time thanks to the automated, paperless screening solution provided by the supplier.

Working in Partnership

The HR teams at LSBU now have a fully trusted screening partner who is by their side providing guidance, on-site support and practical assistance whenever they need it.

Overall experience

The Trust has made a combined saving of over £160,000 per annum or £480,000 over the full contract term as a result of working with Dukefield Energy.

Challenge
Although satisfied with their existing arrangements, the CPC framework offered a good range of key benefits to benchmark value and boost sustainability such as multi-supplier further competition, renewable energy options, a dedicated helpdesk, ongoing support and OJEU compliance.

Solution
Following a multi-supplier quotation exercise, 36 month fully fixed contract options were selected for gas and electricity for longer term budget security. Throughout the process, Dukefield Energy made sure all of the Trust’s queries were answered and continually monitored the market to get the best and lowest contracting point.

Benefits
The chosen 100% Renewable Electricity contract with Haven Power and SSE Gas contract resulted in combined saving for the Trust of over £160,000 per annum or £480,000 over the full contract term.

Dukefield Energy will also be providing value-added services such as Bill Validation, Cost and Consumption Monitoring, Market Tracking, Query Management, Graphical Analysis and a dedicated Account Manager. Dukefield Energy have also reviewed current electric Capacity (KVA) levels, to identify any surplus for savings or future growth, and have organised an Energy Efficiency workshop with Haven Power.

As a result of using Dukefield Energy, the college has secured combined savings on gas and electricity of approximately £115,000 per annum, generating a total contract efficiency of £345,000 over the 3-year contract term.

Challenge
Derby College’s current gas and electricity contracts expired at the end of September 2019 and, mindful of the time scales involved in re-tendering, and optimal prevailing market conditions, and with the ability to contract well in advance of delivery, they started to look into procuring new contracts in March 2019.

Solution
They found utilising the framework was a very easy process. It was simply a case of contacting Dukefield Energy direct and arranging an initial meeting to discuss our requirements. They then advised what information they required from us in order to go to market on our behalf. Derby College was kept fully informed of the process at all times, advising the optimum time to go to market and then providing full details of the results from the tender process. Dukefield Energy also advised on which offer was the most advantageous for the College, allowing them to make a fully informed decision when selecting new contracts.

Benefits
The College has secured combined savings on gas and electricity of approximately £115,000 per annum, generating a total contract efficiency of £345,000 over the 3- year contract term. In addition, Dukefield Energy also reviewed the supply capacity (KVA) of each building and advised where we could reduce this, resulting in an additional £4,000 per annum saving, generating a further total contract efficiency of £12,000 over the 3-year contract term.

The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) is a Surrey based Multi-Academy Trust, comprising four secondary and six primary schools. The Trust recently replaced its existing document print solutions through the National Education MFD framework, which is also listed as part of the DfE Deals for Schools

The framework provided easy access to a dedicated help desk which provided the Trust with support in terms of supplier pricing evaluation and any technical requirements for machines.

We are extremely pleased with the level of support we received from the Help Desk. The level of technical knowledge and support allowed us to select the best solution for us and it was a pleasant experience transacting through the framework overall.
